A lot of readers of this blog will know that Reckless Intent hosted ‘An Evening of Wrestling for Scott Renwick’ last Saturday at the Murieston Scout Hall in Livingston, which was a show in support of Scott as he awaits a kidney transplant and has been unable to work. The response from fans and wrestlers alike was great, with the show being sold out before the day of the show and many wrestlers of Scottish wrestling’s past, present and future offering their support by partaking in the show as well.

As I mentioned in last week’s blog, I have always found Scott to be a tremendous guy and locker room leader. He has influenced many wrestlers over the years, whether it be as an opponent, tag team partner, mentor, coach, friend or acquaintance. I remember reading about him in an edition of Fighting Spirit Magazine before I was involved in wrestling, where he was one of the first to be featured in their ‘one to watch’ column that still runs to this day. I have been fortunate enough to compete against him also, with us battling for the W3L Golden Ticket back in 2013 in a match that also involved Dave Paris and Rory Steele and in a singles match on a smaller show, where the ceiling was too low and I ended up punching out one of the ceiling tiles after attempting to clothesline ‘The Butcher.’ He has been the first match to wrestlers such as Theo Doros and DCT and has had a hand in training many graduates of the Reckless Intent Pro Wrestling School and wrestlers up and down the country.

The show itself was brilliant, with many wrestlers of different backgrounds, levels of experience and associations all coming together under one roof. The audience was the loudest I have heard the Murieston Scout Hall and the show all in all was a great success. A lot of money was raised for Scott and he announced as the show came to a close that he has found a donor in Graeme Leask, with the transplant taking place this week. I wish both of these gentlemen all the best.

Reckless Intent’s next show will be taking place this Saturday at the Twechar Healthy Living Centre, with the full card having been announced on their Facebook page. One match that interests me is my High Society comrade David Devlin going one-on- one with Michael Chase. Devlin and I built some momentum at last Saturday’s show by picking up a win in a four team elimination tag match and I am confident that Devlin will capitalise on that momentum this Saturday.

I will be at the Reckless Intent show on Saturday 4th November though, as they return to the Murieston Scout Hall in Livingston for the Reckless Rumble. This will be my first ever Reckless Rumble and I look forward to David Devlin and I being the first ever joint winners of the rumble, which will no doubt help High Society moving forward as we look to obtain ALL THE GOLD in Reckless Intent. Tickets are available at www.reckless-intent.com. Until then though, that is The Aldridge Opinion.
