It’s a new week, and after a slightly disappointing May event, we head to June for Dundee & Angus Pro Wrestling at The Queen’s Hotel in Dundee. Cheeki Breeki was introduced to a curious duo in Breaking & Entering in the open, as the challenge was put out by Patryk Peterski to meet him and Stan The Slav King in Dundee and that leads up into…
Cheeki Breeki (Stan The Slav King & Patryk Peterski) defeated Breaking & Entering by pinfall.
Breaking & Entering just appearing with no music and just out of nowhere was a nice touch with shenanigans aplenty starting out that includes the pair trying to clock Cheeki Breeki with spanners which missed the mark. Peterski easily overpowered Breaking (I think) with Stan able to drive his boots into the face of Entering (maybe) with a lovely dropkick then delivering an rKo at the request of the fans.
A Vodka Shot knee to Breaking, and back suplex/neckbreaker combo ended the masked pairs night.
It was some silliness, with Cheeki Breeki dominating in short order. The crowd took it as a bit of fun to warm them up for the wrestling.
Next was a promo for Sam McMillan against Tommy Cross that was set for the next episode. Sam talked about the events from June, introduced his own dark passenger “Mona”, and landed a great line towards Red Gate “you use horror, I create it”.
Jay Robin defeated Rich Money by pinfall.
Jay Robin entered to confirm that due to a family emergency that he would be stepping in for Sami Sparx to face Rich Money. Money got his feelings hurt when he asked everyone that liked him to put their hands up with no one being forthcoming to admit. Once the match started though Rich was in control until he was hip tossed with Money deciding to regroup on the floor. He was met with a senton that didn’t quite have the launch needed with Jay Robin barreling hard into Rich Money full force. Robin continued to pummel Money around ringside before finally rolling Rich into the ring.
Rich had a charge from Jay Robin scouted to flapjack Jay face first onto the top turnbuckle with the turntables in the pocket of Rich Money. Money choked and forearmed Robin, who burst back with a jumping lariat for a near fall. Jay kept on top of Rich Money until a missed corner rush was answered with a clothesline for a disrespectful one hand cover that was slapped away. Money continued to keep Robin at bay, stopping for a water break and took his time to get restarted. All that time wasting allowed Jay to recharge to roll away from a second rope elbow drop and start his comeback, a jawbreaker, lariat, and ending with a Gory Bomb as Money meekly attempted to raise his arm to no avail.
After being negative about some of the previous week’s episodes from the May event in Perth, this was a nice change of pace. The Cheeki Breeki and Breaking & Entering segment was a fine addition with the added context of the promo. If it went in cold then I might’ve had other opinions on it but the overall package done well. Cheeki Breeki are a popular tandem and are afforded the time by the crowd to have some fun. As the episodes go on the more serious change to Rich Money has done him wonders in presentation, it’s a bit more subtle than brazenly flaunting a wad of £1 notes around and being a parody that has a limited timeframe, the more grounded approach suits Rich Money’s in-ring style and gives him a wider range to work with.
The match hit the right notes with Jay Robin still getting a great reaction. These two had a solid match, nothing looked awkward or misplaced, it was a good one.
An entertaining start, I have high hopes for the the remaining episodes hailing from this event.
